The Colombian Navy, through the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, in coordination with Puerto Brisa S. A, Riohacha Port Authority and Riohacha National Police, demonstrated that precision, effectiveness and coordination are guarantees of the success of operations that mitigate contingencies and emergencies at sea, as evidenced by the recent International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Drill.
The exercise began with a demonstration of maritime protection against a terrorist threat and the demonstration of emergency situations, in order to coordinate the different disaster response and resources of local and regional authorities, in order to mitigate the vulnerability of the Nation's strategic assets.
Rapid Reaction Units of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, carried out simulated maritime interception exercises neutralizing direct attacks on civilians, man overboard emergencies and containment of spills of polluting liquids in the sea.
It should be mentioned that during the proceedings, the doctrine established for this type of situation was complied with, obtaining positive results in the optimal response to each of the emergencies, thus evidencing the reaction capacity of the Naval Institution in the Colombian Caribbean.
