Ongoing operations against the illicit activities, carried out by units of the Colombian Navy in conjunction with the National Army, led to the seizure of a shipment of cocaine hydrochloride, apparently belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Guerrillas Unidas del Pacífico, when it was intended to be transported illegally to Central America and where it would be marketed for more than $8 million
Guided with intelligence information, units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.40 belonging to the Hercules Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force, with the support of troops of the Anti-Drug Battalion No.4, deployed the military operation through sea and river, towards the Brazo Grande area, in Tumaco.
Once in the area, troops began the search that allow them to find thirteen sacks buried in an illegal warehouse, which contained inside several rectangular packages pressed and packaged; physical characteristics similar to those used by organized armed groups for drug trafficking.
The sacks were transported to the Navy Infantry Brigade’s No.4 facilities, where members of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor's Office applied the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - APIT to the substance found inside the packages, which tested positive for 250 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. During the Operation, No captures were reported.
With this result, in the last week, 567 kilograms of cocaine have been seized in the zone. It is a heavy blow to the finances of the Residual Organization Armed Group (GAO-R) Guerrillas Unidas del Pacífico, in the department of Nariño.
