Alias Hermes is accused for homicides, extortion and forced displacement in Algeciras, Huila.

Domingo Ramos Cortés, known as Hermes, main ringleader of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Second Structure - Marquetalia, was captured in a military operation carried out by units of the Fifth Division of the Army.

This capture was reported after a follow-up and intelligence operation carried out by units of the Ninth Brigade, with the support of the National Police, the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) and the Attorney General's Office in the rural area of the municipality of Algeciras, Huila.

The constant inter-institutional operations to stop the wave of violence against social leaders and former members of the extinct Farc led to this decisive blow against the illegal armed structure, responsible for homicides, extortion and forced displacement in Algeciras, a strategic area in eastern Huila.

His criminal capacity would have led him to gain the trust of the residual Second Armed Organized Group Marquetalia, who named him ringleader of the company Óscar Mondragón.

Better known by the alias Hermes Suárez, this individual is said to be the alleged brain and perpetrator of the murders that have mourned the department of Huila, as well as to carry out intimidations to strengthen the finances of this structure, through threats against peasant families to leave the municipality.

The strategic operation was carried out in La Perdiz, Algeciras municipality, where, thanks to the planning and sagacity of the National Army soldiers and the judicial support of the Prosecutor's Office, the 29-year-old man was captured; he has a wide criminal record, approximately of 10 years long.

In previous days, the capture of five of his men had been obtained, who were apprehended in various operations, and today they are in prison, this group had been damaging the security and progress of this area of Huila.

Alias Hermes, in 2013, was part of the company Ayiber González, of the Mobile Column Teófilo Forero Castro. He was captured on March 17, 2014 in reported combats with the Army in El Quebradón, south of Algeciras, Huila.

In 2017 he regains his freedom, after entering the Amnesty Law, and again he went to the rural area of Algeciras. While in 2018 he decided to return to his criminal operations by forming an organized crime group that would have been perpetrating extortion of money against the productive sectors in the area.

It is in 2019, when he would have started to have contact with former members of the Teófilo Forero Castro, he gained the confidence of the commanders, thanks to the execution of numerous crimes. This was reason to be named chief of the company Óscar Mondragón.
