More than five hectares of illicit plantations were eradicated in the rural area of the municipality of Carmen del Darién, in the department of Chocó, through a joint operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force and the National Army that led to the discovery of the plantations.
Approximately 55,000 seedbeds or bushes were located in operations like this, directly damaging the drug trafficking chain and weakening the finances of organized armed groups such as the GAO Clan del Golfo and the GAO Eln, which commit crimes in the area. These operations cut off the planning and execution of terrorist operations against the Security forces and civilians.
The Colombian Air Force carries out operations permanently, maintaining the effort throughout the country, breaking the illegal income and criminal activity of the different groups that profit of the illegal exploitation of natural resources.
