Colombian Navy prevents criminal operations in the Colombian Pacific

arc_pacifico.jpg

Within the framework of comprehensive maritime security and control operations, the Colombian Navy maritime interception of six ships when they were transporting smuggled fuel was reported as well as the transport of illicit substances, timber and illegal fishing, in the waters of the Colombian South Pacific.

The decisive deployment of the Rapid Reaction Units - URR of the Tumaco Coast Guard Primary Station, led to the detection of three boats with 3,505 gallons of smuggled fuel, which according to intelligence information would be used as liquid precursors for the production of coca base paste. The fuel found was put into custody of the DIAN and the Attorney General's Office, along with the six individuals who were transporting the merchandise.

Simultaneously, after carrying out an effective maritime pursuit, the crew of the Naval Institution immobilized a boat that was manned by a man, who was carrying 25 rudimentary cigarettes with a vegetable content and some colored envelopes with a floury substance. The material found was submitted to the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH by the staff of the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE), leaving positive result for 60 grams of marijuana and 26 grams of cocaine hydrochloride. The individual, the cigarettes and the envelopes were put into custody of the officials of the SIJIN.

It should be noted that the micro-trafficking of illicit drugs, in addition to being associated with organized crime, represents a delicate public health situation for the country, in the same way, both its consumption and distribution are related to citizen security problems, specifically with the crimes of theft, homicide and carrying weapons.

In the same way, the Sailors of Colombia intercepted a ship, at the moment when it was sailing in the bay of Tumaco, with 35 cubic meters of wood. The individual who was on board did not have the documentation that supported the legality of the material, nor the necessary safe conduct for its transport, so it was put into custody of Corponariño.

Finally, the military personnel immobilized a Flipper boat manned by three individuals from Ecuador, who were caught conducting illegal fishing in Colombian waters. At the time of the inspection of the ship, 12 frozen specimens were found by troops, including goldfish, yellowfin tuna, and swordfish, completing up to 193 kilograms of illegal fishing, which was put into custody of the AUNAP. Since the individuals did not present the documents issued by the environmental authority to carry out said fishing task, they were prosecuted by officials of the Attorney General's Office of the Nation.
