Two excavators and two so called dragons valued at 3,200 million pesos were immobilized in the operation.

In compliance with the Ayacucho Plan and following the guidelines of the National Government, the Brigade Against the Illicit Exploitation of Mining deposits of the National Army, in a joint operation with the Colombian Aerospace Force, coordinated with the National Police, and interagency with the Attorney General's Office, obtained the finding of an illegal mining production unit, where two excavators and two dragons (big dredges) were used.

In this important operation there was a loss valued at more than 3,000 million pesos. The mining production unit generated an approximate extraction of 8,000 grams of gold per month, with a price of 2,400 million pesos at the time of commercialization. This result directly disturbs the illicit activities of the Structure of the José María Becerra Front, Organized Armed Group, GAO ELN.

With this result it was possible to reduce the impact on the ecosystem in an estimated area of more than 420 hectares, where about 120,000 meters of land had been removed, deforesting more than 60,000 trees, in addition to the pollution received by the Pilpé River, in the municipality of Guapi, department of Cauca, which caused environmental damage that will take to recover 20 or 30 years approximately.
