More than 1,600 people received medical and recreational assistance in a health and well-being activity led by the Armies of Colombia and Ecuador, in the village La Victoria de Ipiales, in the department of Nariño.
Hundreds of inhabitants of the border area arrived at La Victoria School to be assisted in medical services such as general medicine, internal medicine, dentistry, psychology, growth and development, vaccination, distribution of medicines, among others; aesthetic services such as nail repair, haircut; donation of books for the school library and donation of clothes, thanks to the health professionals of the Health Secretariat of Ipiales, and the private companies that joined this cause.
Human warmth was the protagonist during the binational activity in which 1,200 inhabitants of Colombia and about 450 of Ecuador, including children, adults and elderly, received multiple specialized services and recreational activities that the men and women of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.3, comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No.3 of the Colombian National Army and the 31 ANDES Infantry Brigade representing the Army of Ecuador.
Lieutenant Colonel Alexandre Da Silveira, commander of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.3 General José María Cabal said that "this development support activity seeks to respond to some of the unmet needs of these people in terms of medical assistance, accompany the communities living on the border that were hit a few years ago by instability factors such as the existence of groups outlaw. [The idea is] to provide new opportunities for their development in our purpose of continuing to rebuild the social fabric."
Marta Zambrano, participant of the activity, said "I feel very happy for this brigade that the National Army has brought, I am grateful because they have remembered our people and I am happy about everything, with all the specialists who have come and for the recreation of for our children as well."
