Within the framework of two anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping operations carried out by the Navy of Colombia in coordination with the National Police, two people were released who apparently had been held against their will for extortion purposes, in the municipality of Tumaco - Nariño.
In the first operation, a telephone call of the network of collaborators warned the Unified Action Group for Personal Freedom – GAULA of the Colombian Navy, about the alleged kidnapping of a minor in the San Felipe neighborhood, in the urban area of the District of Tumaco.
Immediately, the Colombian navy men and the National Police personnel deployed their units, closed the mobility routes and the main access roads, so that they found the 15-year-old student tied up with his hands outside a house, with signs of torture and wounds apparently caused by a sharp-edged weapon.
At the place, two men were arrested who apparently belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group Coordinadora Guerrillera del Pacífico, frente Alfonso Cano, who were demanding 10 million pesos of their relatives, in exchange for not attacking his good physical condition. The individuals were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for the crime of extortion kidnapping.
The minor, after receiving medical assistance, was given to his parents and later taken to the facilities of the Special District of the Tumaco Police, in order to file a denunciation.
In the second deployment of the military units thanks to the decisive pressure activities and active presence in the territory, alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group Guerrilla Coordinator of the Pacific, Alfonso Cano front, were forced to release a 63-year-old woman, who according to the information provided by relatives would have been kidnapped since last August 3, 2023, in order to demand money from her children for her release.
