The Seventh Division of the Army intensifies operations to strengthen the security of the inhabitants in the northwest of the country

In the last two weeks, the military operation has led to the neutralization of 27 alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo and residual GAO (GAO-r).

 

As part of these operations, three of our Military Forces members were killed on the battlefield.

 

In compliance with the constitutional mission, under the guidelines of the Security, defense and citizen Coexistence Policy of the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ayacucho Operational Campaign Plan, troops of the National Army, seeking to protect the lives of civilians and provide security conditions in territories under dispute of criminal organizations, carries out military operations against the GAO residual and GAO Clan del Golfo in the departments of Córdoba, Antioquia and Chocó.

 

Last July 12, as part of a territorial stabilization operation, five alleged members of the Zuley Guerra Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, were arrested in Las Flores village, Lorica, Córdoba, with their respective war materiel. Another was killed in the frame of the military operation. In the same operation, three people who were kidnapped were rescued. One of our servicemen was shot, which led to the amputation of one of his legs, given the severity of the injury.

 

In the second operation, in the Puente Beso sector, Las Agüitas populated center, municipality of Ituango, in the Northern Antioquia Subregion, a confrontation occurred against alleged members of the GAO-r Mixed Santa Rita Group, made up of members of structures 18 and 36.  The 12 blows to the structure in the operation correspond to one dead, one arrested, three detainees and seven minors recovered. The dead man was known as alias Maicol or Primo Rogli, the second ringleader of this group. In these battles two soldiers were killed.

 

On the other hand, in the village of Las Auras, municipality of Briceño, Antioquia, fighting took place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week conducted by soldiers of the Fourth Brigade and some substructures of the GAO Clan del Golfo. According to intelligence information, these events caused multiple beatings, including deaths and injuries. In this operation, unfortunately one of our members of the Military Forces was killed by immersion at the moment of overcoming a natural obstacle.

 

Finally, in the early morning of today, in the village of Tiradó, base municipality of San Pablo, department of Chocó, an operation was carried out with the support of the Police and the Attorney General's Office against the Substructure Heroes de Jesús Carreteras, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which resulted in the arrest of nine of its members, including the second ringleader. Five rifles, a pistol, a shotgun, a hand grenade were in the same way found in the operation, as well as abundant material of military accessories, explosives and other items of interest to military intelligence.

 

With these results, the Seventh Division of the Army has hit the illegal groups that commit crimes in the area. So, more than 650 beatings including voluntary submissions, surrenders to justice, arrests and deaths in the framework of military operations.
