Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan and the Surrender to Justice Program, the National Army continues to work to uphold human rights and the norms of international humanitarian law, and in this case, of those who voluntarily accept the legal life.
Last week, through the reactivation of military operations against the Central General Staff of the FARC, led by alias Ivan Mordisco, troops of the Twelfth Brigade of the National Army achieved the surrender to justice of 11 individuals who allegedly were part of these organized armed groups.
These individuals surrendered themselves voluntarily to the soldiers of the National Army, who respected their rights, and immediately activated the protocol established for those who make their voluntary surrender.
By introducing to the troops, these individuals made known their intentions of wanting to rejoin civil society and start a new life with their families, under the legality and support of the Humanitarian Assistance Group for the Demobilized, led by the National Government.
In the same way, a minor was recovered, who was put into custody of the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute to restore his rights.
It is important to highlight that these individuals gave important war material: five rifles, three pistols, magazines, ammunition of different calibers, grenades, explosives, communications equipment and military accessory material for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
With these results, the National Army strikes hard the criminal structures and their illicit activities, weakening the FARC's Central Staff, responsible for homicides, criminal acts, clashes with other structures specialized in drug trafficking, as well as serious human rights violations of international humanitarian law.
In addition, troops invites those who are members of these residual organized armed groups to voluntarily surrender to the authorities in order to change their lives and return home.
