Military forces found more than 200 grenades and 80 anti-personnel mines belonging to FARC dissidents in Tumaco, Nariño

The explosive devices were ready to be transported to the other side of the Mira River to be planted and carry out terrorist attacks against the fishermen of the region and the members of the Military Forces in the area.

In a military operation framed in the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, carried out by units of the Hercules Joint Task Force, 213 rudimentary grenades and 80 anti-personnel mines were found by troops that were ready to be transported and planted in the villages of La Mina and Los Negritos, rural area of the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.

The first reports indicate that the place where the explosives were to be installed would be set up as a explosives-prepared area, in the middle of the undergrowth on the banks of the Mira River, with the aim of attacking the lives of civilians and the Military Forces.

The troops, after a thorough search through the thick vegetation, reported finding the illegal hiding place where the criminals hid the explosive devices. There they found the explosives in the middle of the ground with plastic bags so that they would not be detected by the inhabitants and the soldiers who carry out military operations throughout the department.

As it could be established, these dangerous elements would belong to the organized armed groups Oliver Sinisterra and Iván Ríos structures of the FARC dissidents who commit crimes in this region of the country.

This year there are already 437 explosive devices that the Military Forces have destroyed on the Pacific coast of Nariño, safeguarding the good physical condition of the different productive groups, peasants, social and communal sectors, among others, who carry out agricultural and fishing work on rural areas.

After the finding, the explosive material was destroyed under controlled conditions by anti-explosive technicians of the Military Forces, in accordance with the stipulated security protocols and maintaining the necessary techniques and tactics to work for raising security in the area.

With this important operational result, a decisive loss is dealt to the logistical and criminal networks of the organized armed groups to which this material would belong and thus terrorist operations against the life and physical wellbeing of civilians and the Military Forces are thwarted.

Military operations continue to be conducted in the area with the aim of continuing to neutralize criminal intentions and thus conduct the tasks of security and wellbeing for the community.
