In an effective operational deployment, Colombian Navy units found more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride, which was being transported by three Colombians aboard boat bound for Central America.
In the decisive operation against drug trafficking, Colombian sailors found and intercepted a suspicious boat when it was sailing in the waters of the South Pacific. The boat, along with its crew, was transported to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, to carry out the corresponding verifications.
During the inspection, the boat presented asymmetries in its structure with fresh paint, where a detailed inspection was carried out, detecting the existence of a double bottom, apparently with drugs.
Subsequently, with the work of officials of the Technical Research Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), the opening of the ship was carried out, finding 541 rectangular packages, which at the time of conducting the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH to the substance, there result was positive for 541 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
With this finding, the finances of organizations that commit crimes such as drug trafficking are hit by more than 18 million dollars and the marketing of more than one million three hundred thousand doses worldwide is prevented.
The individuals and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
The Colombian Navy, in development of the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho, will continue to carry out sea control operations and comprehensive maritime security against drug trafficking, closing the routes for the trafficking of illicit substances in the country.
