The soldiers and the Sueños y Sonrisas Foundation changed the life of Camilo Díaz Lizcano, a ten-month-old baby who had a cleft palate, a birth condition. The little one was operated on at the Villavicencio departmental hospital, where he is recovering successfully.
In La Macarena, a municipality in the department of Meta, there is one of the most important nature reserves in Colombia: the Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park, home to Caño Cristales, a place classified as the most beautiful river in the world. However, in the midst of the wonders, its people live different needs since it is a remote municipality of the country.
This is the case of Camilo Díaz Lizcano, a baby with a cleft lip, who needed a surgical intervention to improve his quality of life. His family has knocked on several doors to help his son and one day his mother found the support of the National Army.
What started as an impossible dream and a long search, today is already a reality, thanks to the coordinated work of the Fourth Division, the Battalion of Comprehensive Action No. 4 and the Fe en Colombia program along with the Sueños y Sonrisas foundation and the Villavicencio departmental hospital, who heard the story and joined the noble cause of operating on the minor for free.
Today his family feels grateful to God and life because they find a support network that would help little Camilo. “I thank God and you, the National Army, who shook my hand of the beginning, and today my baby can enjoy a healthier life, I feel very happy because the surgery was a success,” said Lida Lizcano, companion of the minor.
“We feel proud as an institution, to be able to help in the most remote places of the country, we know that Camilo's smile is even brighter than the sun and we agree with the family, which believes that his future promises to shine much brighter,” said Major Andrés David Villabón Rojas, commander of Comprehensive Action Battalion No.4.
