The Colombian Navy is carrying out an operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, jointly with the Colombian Air Force, to find more than 189 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were being transported on board a ship through the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
In this deployment of Resources of the Military Forces, Surface and Naval Aviation units of the Colombian Navy participated, who together with an aircraft of the Colombian Air Force detected a go fast type boat manned by two individuals, a Colombian and a Dominican, who apparently intended to take the drugs to a port in the Dominican Republic.
A Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard of Santa Marta was immediately sent to the area, which initiated the pursuit and the maritime interception of the ship 44 nautical miles from Riohacha, in the department of La Guajira.
Once the interior of the boat was verified, it could be established that the individuals were transporting eight sacks with 189 rectangular packages apparently containing illicit substances. In addition, a rifle with two magazines and 60 cartridges was found.
The substance contained in the packages was tested, which left positive for 189.7 kilograms cocaine hydrochloride.
The arrested and the material were put into custody of the Technical Investigation Staff, CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office to continue the prosecution process.
Thanks to this decisive operation of the Colombian Military Forces, more than 474 thousand doses of cocaine hydrochloride stopped being marketed on the streets of the world, preventing the entry of about 6.4 million dollars into the criminal organizations that use maritime routes for drug trafficking.
