600 gallons of smuggled fuel found in Puerto Bolívar, La Guajira department

During a patrol and surveillance operation, the Colombian Navy made the maritime interception of a rudimentary ship carrying 21 plastic barrels containing 600 gallons of gasoline, approximately 10 nautical miles off the coast of the department of La Guajira.

In a timely manner, Coast Guard crewmen of the Puerto Bolívar Outpost and the Ballenas post, attached to the Santa Marta Primary Coast Guard Station, find a ship with two individuals on board of Venezuelan nationality, who were transporting 600 gallons of gasoline without having the respective documentation proving the legality of origin.

For the above, the ship and the contraband merchandise were seized, which were delivered to the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs – DIAN, of the city of Riohacha - La Guajira. In the same way, the two individuals were put into custody of the authorities to carry out the corresponding immigration procedures.

This operation was possible thanks to the coordination of resources and institutional efforts aimed at countering the criminal operations of outlaw groups that commit crimes in the northern region of the Colombian Caribbean.

The Colombian Navy, through the Santa Marta Primary Coast Guard Station, will continue to carry out operations to weaken illegal activities, including smuggling, and invites people to report any act that threatens the peace and tranquility of the inhabitants through the free emergency line 146, available 24 hours a day.
