In rural area of the municipality of Agua de Dios, Cundinamarca, this environmental activity was carried out, which was also accompanied by medical, dental, psychology, legal advice and beauty and recreation services.

Within the year-end activities that are being carried out in different sectors of the country on the occasion of the arrival of Christmas, in the Ibáñez village, rural area of the municipality of Agua de Dios, Cundinamarca, the Infantry Battalion N.28 Colombia, together with the local mayor's office, the UN and private institutions carried out the first Planting for Peace and Reconciliation.

The activity, in which about 1,500 people were present, was carried out in the New Reincorporation Area, NAR, of Agua de Dios. There, the signatories of the Peace Agreement joined hands with the military and civilians of the region, to complement an environmental activity in which 18 thousand trees of native specimens and fruit trees were planted as a sign of reconciliation and peace.

The former members of the extinct FARC, who live in this region, carry out different productive projects and for this reason their interest in conserving the ecosystem and water sources. The Military Forces coordinated efforts with private companies, the UN and local authorities to be able to materialize this environmental intention.

This activity, the first of its kind, also served to launch the Mi Vereda modelo program, which, after identifying the most felt needs of the area, seeks coordination and support from government authorities and private enterprise to begin to meet those needs and thus contribute to the social development of the most vulnerable communities.

This region of the so-called Alto Magdalena Cundinamarca province, was in the past an area where different crime phenomena converged that hit the security and tranquility of its inhabitants.

With the efforts of the institutions, today this territory is recognized for its landscapes, its stability and security that have boosted its local economy through tourism and the development of agriculture.
