In a house in a rural area of the municipality of Litoral del San Juan - department of Chocó, units of the Colombian Navy conducted an operation coordinated with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office of the Nation, to arrest seven alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, accused of making incursions into different villages to dispute with the Organized Gang Group La Local, substructure Los Shottas, the control of illegal activities that hit the region.
The operation was carried out in the village of Charambirá, at the mouth of the San Juan River, where Navy troops arrived, guided by Naval Intelligence and accompanied by the Attorney General's Office and the National Police, to make effective a search warrant and search a house in which they arrested seven individuals apparently belonging to this criminal organization.
Among those arrested is an alleged ringleader of this multicrime organization known by the alias Diecinueve, who led these individuals to carry out raids in the villages of La Barra, Ladrilleros and Juanchaco, with the purpose of entering into confrontation with the Organized Gang Grupo La Local, Los Shottas substructure and dispute the management of drug trafficking routes.
Additionally, during the operation, war material, military accessories of exclusive use of the Military Forces were seized, among these elements are four handguns, more than 200 units of ammunition of different calibers, nine units of material of military accessories such as vests and fabrics, in addition to 10 units of communication equipment.
The Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo is the main responsible for leading criminal activities such as drug trafficking, extortion from merchants and forced recruitment of children, young people and adolescents in this region of the country, so with this result its criminal capacity and its intentions of expansion in the Colombian Pacific coast are hit hard; in the same way, it continues to contribute to the security of its inhabitants and that of the productive and commercial groups that were being threatened by these criminals.
The arrested individuals and the material were taken to Buenaventura and put into custody of the authority.
