In the Cañafisto village, El Jordán village, San Carlos municipality, in the department of Antioquia, seven mining production units were found by troops and disabled, in development of a joint and coordinated operation carried out by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army and the National Police.

In the mission, six diver-type dredgers, ten motor pumps, an excavator and other materials were destroyed, which were used for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits in eastern Antioquia, with an approximate production of 600 grams of gold per month, whose value is close to 1,500 million pesos, about USD 300,180.

It is estimated that the items cost more than 153 million pesos and apparently belonged to alias Pelusa, alleged financial ringleader of the common crime group Clan del Oriente.

In this operation it was possible to recover more than ten hectares of land that would be hit by this illegal activity, with the deforestation of about 800 trees, which would take more than 30 years to recover.

The Colombian Air Force permanently leads and participates in this type of operations that leads to contribute to the conservation and protection of natural resources, preventing the contamination of water sources that are disturbed by the problem of illegal mining.
