When joint patrols were being carried out in the Santander municipality, an encounter combat occurred, leaving one arrested and one dead in the course of military operations.
In compliance with the Safe Municipality Plan, motorized troops of the National Army, were conducting a joint patrol with the Police in Puerto Wilches, Santander, when they were attacked with a firearm by two individuals, alleged members of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfoo, who were traveling on a motorcycle, unleashing an encounter firefight.
As a result of this situation, it was possible the arrest of the individual known as alias Pipi, a 26-year-old alleged member of the Luis Alfonso Echavarría substructure, who had a wound on an arm, received first aid of the soldiers and then was taken to a medical center where he received medical assistance. The aforementioned individual would have escaped of the Puerto Wilches prison in previous days and he was given a prison sentence.
On the other hand, as a result of the combat, an individual was killed in the course of military operations, who after the relevant identification work carried out by the military authorities, would be a member of the same substructure.
These individuals would have a record for the crimes of drug trafficking, prison break, homicide and illegal carrying of firearms. In the same way, a 9-millimeter caliber handgun, ammunition and ammunition for it, a motorcycle and cell phones were found by troops.
