Men of the National Army helped more than 1,200 people hit by rains in the municipality of Villavicencio, Meta. The heavy rains caused the overflow of the Guatiquía River. Families have lost their household belongings due to floods and water currents that washed away their homes.
Due to the wave caused by rains, last season in the first semester of 2022, Comprehensive Action soldiers, in coordination with the team Fe en Colombia, of the National Army, and the Food Bank joined efforts to distribute humanitarian aid and food baskets to families who have been left without their belongings in recent days due to the storms.
About four tons of fresh food, including vegetables, water, soda, fruits, grains and more food were distributed on May 20 in the Vanguardia, Nueva Colombia, El Rubí and Coliseo de La Grama neighborhoods, a place that shelters the families who lost everything, since the Guatiquía River overflowed and took the territory.
In the same way, in the sports center of La Grama, some of the people hit by rains are being sheltered; donations such as diapers, mattresses, food, medical services, among other benefits that government institutions, private companies and institutions are being taken there to help the community.
The social manager of the city Jahmny Harman and inhabitants of these neighborhoods thank all the institutions that are assisting the health emergency, and especially the operation carried out by the soldiers of Comprehensive Action in the department of Meta.
“We are going through an Emergency and all the help we receive is really welcome, thanks you very much for the collaboration with us in this emergency, thanks in the same way to the National Army,” says Harman.
The soldiers of the National Army, with the collaboration of first responders, the government, the mayor's office and the police have helped to evacuate the families and belongings.
