Two individuals were arrested, when they were extracting petroleum illegally.
Through joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations conducted by troops of the Sixteenth Brigade of the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to find approximately 10 thousand gallons of fuel (petroleum) and arrest two people.
The operation was carried out in the Iguamena village of the municipality of Aguazul, Casanare, where the authorities arrived to enforce a search warrant, where it was possible to arrest two individuals, at the time when they allegedly extracted petroleum illegally, from an illegal valve on the pipeline tube that transports fuel from the Araguaney plant to the Monterrey station. A tanker-type vehicle, an illegal valve, two cell phones and documents were found by troops.
According to intelligence work, these individuals had apparently been extracting fuel (petroleum) through this illicit valve for about six months, using three tankers, which would be equivalent to more than 25,000 gallons, meaning for the petroleum industry, the loss of $ 235,000,000 COP per week, approximately. In the same way, due to the suspension of operations while the repair is underway, the company would had a loss of about 150 million pesos per day.
With this result, troops prevent damages to the environment since the rudimentary method that is used is entirely inappropriate, in addition, this operation generates security to civilians and prevents damage to the critical infrastructure of the State, in the department of Casanare.
