A complete human team made up of the National Army, environmental soldiers and specialized personnel of the District Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the Cormacarena Environmental Authority, released 227 animals of wildlife in the Colombian plains, restoring life expectancy and the proliferation of life, it is an extraordinary operation, worthy of applause of all Colombians.
More than 100 of these animals were found by troops by the environmental authorities in the El Dorado International airport, in the city of Bogotá, when two foreign individuals sought to bring them out illegally out of the country, managing to coordinate its release with the environmental authorities and the Battalion of Engineers Alban N.°7, the Seventh Brigade, in the department of Meta, in the sectors of the Bosques de Bavaria in Villavicencio, in the salinas of Upín in Restrepo and in the municipality of Cumaral.
142 tarantulas, 59 morrocoy turtles, 9 squirrel monkeys, 6 gleaners, 4 parrots, 2 parakeets, 2 cane toads, an iguana, a banana frog and a turtle, found their new home, thanks to the timely operation of the environmental institutions and the feeling of the community to protect the natural resources of our country.
It should be noted that the National Army has made a very important management on the environmental issue, engaging all soldiers in Colombia in the permanent struggle for the protection of biodiversity, and through soldiers serving military service, has contributed to this work, who have been trained in the preservation of fauna and flora, generating in them a culture of responsible environmental that multiplies the efforts of the national government and all sectors of society, working for their protection.
This is a joint effort that makes visible great conducts in environmental management, in the department of Meta; this year the figures speak for themselves, more than 180,000 trees have been planted throughout the territory of Meta and troops have protected more than 300 animals contributing with commitment to the defense of our biodiversity.
