Once again, inter-institutional cohesion is hitting the finances of the organized armed group, Gao, Clan del Golfo; thanks to this result, it stops receiving a monthly 17,500 million pesos, product of the illegal marketing of four tons of cocaine hydrochloride monthly in the country and abroad.
The military forces work to counter the problem of drug trafficking in Colombia, through Operation José Inocencio Chincá, framed in the Bicentenary Campaign Plan Heroes de Libertad. Through the Coordination of inter-institutional efforts the troops of the National Army, together with the National Navy and police, thanks to joint and technical intelligence, neutralized a cocaine hydrochloride laboratory that generated a large profit to the GAO Clan del Golfo.
This military operation was planned months ago and led to find in the middle of the thick jungle of the Colombian Orinoquía region, in the municipality of Yurimena, in Puerto López, Meta, an illegal structure with a ton of drug ready to be processed and distributed, with a commercial price exceeding four thousand 375 million pesos abroad.
In the same way, after carrying out search work, troops also found about a thousand gallons of liquid precursors, more than a ton of solid precursors and elements used for the drugs production, costing approximately 200 million pesos.
This criminal structure transported the drugs from the rural area of Puerto López, Meta, in trucks that were covered with food, to reach the Manacacias River, in Puerto Gaitán, and then transferred them to small boats that traveled to the municipality of Orocué, Casanare; later they used tertiary roads to the Department of Arauca. In the same way, they used other tertiary or river routes of the municipality of Puerto Gaitán, Meta, to the hamlet of Nueva Antioquía, Vichada, which for its border location, facilitated the illegal marketing in neighboring countries.
This result represents a considerable detriment to the illicit activities of the GAO Clan del Golfo in the Department of Meta, taking into account that drug trafficking is its main source of income to strengthen its armed and logistical capacity in the region.
