3,100 meters above sea level, multiplying the green borders in the lower Mochuelo sector of Ciudad Bolívar, the Colombian Navy through Naval Base No.6 ARC Bogotá, and in strategic alliance with the Botanical Garden, carried out a planting of trees within the framework of the campaign: Greening Bogotá, conducted by the mayor's Office.
About 40 Colombian Navy crew members, including officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, navy men and privates, joined this important environmental impact project that seeks to restore and recover the ecological routes of strategic ecosystems, implementing the 5x1 formula: compensation of five trees planted for each tree felled.
Among the trees chosen for the restoration of the vegetation cover of this ecosystem are laurel, Cedar, Walnut, myrtle and encenillo, species that, according to previous soil studies, are the most suitable for this area of the city. The campaign aims to plant 27 thousand trees in different areas of the city.
The inhabitants of the sector thanked the participating institutions for the great contribution to the conservation of the basins, since this planting has an important impact on the protection of the water sources that serve as a spring for the Tunjuelo River, which crosses the municipalities of Sumapaz, Usme, Ciudad Bolívar, Tunjuelito, Kennedy, Bosa in the city of Bogotá and a minimal extension on Soacha.
