Defense minister rejects attacks on Military Forces reported during in recent hours in the country

"At the moment there are 579 police officers injured, 464 members of the Military Forces have bruises, 93 have been injured with a sharp knife, 3 with a firearm and 15 by explosive devices or incendiary operations, 25 are still hospitalized," said Minister Diego Molano.

 

The head of the Ministry of Defense said that so far 515 arrests have been reported, where 97 have already been in a legality hearing, 15 of foreign nationality and 96 search procedures have been reported.

 

In the presentation of a report on the latest events of law and order in the country, at the General Directorate facilities of the police, the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, invited Colombians to denounce acts of vandalism and urged them to trust the Military Forces to return peace to face the latest events in the country.

 

"Because United is the only way to maintain order, all operations must be framed in the human rights of all, because law is our guarantee to live in society,” said the Minister, considering that “we are facing a criminal hand that is attacking the rights to life, health, work, food and tranquility of Colombians.”

 

In his statements, the minister rejected the recent attacks on members of the Military Forces, police stations and vehicles; in the same way, he rejected blockades and other violent acts that harm municipalities in the country.

He in the same way repudiated the attack in Cali on the police stations in the sectors of La Sultana, El Lido, and fray Damián, which were attacked with a firearm.

 

In turn, the chief of the Ministry of Defense referred to the most damaged units in the country, which are the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá with 174 injured, the Metropolitan Police of Cali with 165 injured and the Metropolitan Police of Valle de Aburrá with 51.

 

Molano said that in coordination with the Office of the inspector General of the nation and the Attorney General of the nation, the ministry has opened 29 disciplinary investigations, 7 Criminal Investigations assumed by the prosecutor and there are 5 investigations assumed by the Military Criminal Justice.

 

In distributing his report sheet, the head of the Ministry of Defense said that so far 515 arrests have been reported, where 97 have already been in a legality hearing, 15 of foreign nationality and 96 search procedures have been reported.

 

“Since April 28, 140 firearms, 110 traumatic weapons and 5,672 sharp weapons have been found. At the same time, 33,626 corrective measures have been reported, 20,197 for sanitary measures and the majority for violation of the curfew”, added The Minister of Defense.
