Due to the magnitude of the conflagrations that occurs in the Department of the Cesar, in coordination with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, the Colombian Air Force deployed a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and a Bell 212 with the Bambi Bucket system to support firefighting missions.
After receiving the requirement, the Air Combat Command No.5, in Rionegro, Antioquia, sent the helicopter to Valledupar, to support the work of relief agencies on land trying to extinguish the flames that have already consumed several hectares of natural forest.
So far, more than 8,000 gallons of water and retardant Liquid have been dropped from the Bambi Bucket equipment, installed on the UH-60 and Bell 212 helicopters of the Air Combat Command No.3 and the Air Combat Command No.5 in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and Cosazzi.
The Colombian Air Force maintains operations in this area of the country, until completely extinguishing the fire that ravages the fauna and flora in the mountains.
Thus the air institution strengthens its commitment to the protection of the environment, working to mitigate the damage caused by the conflagrations in this department.
