Minister of Defense highlights operations of the Security forces capturing GAO men

The Minister of Defense, Holmes Trujillo, highlighted this Saturday three operations of the Military Forces and the National Police in the departments of Chocó, Córdoba and Tolima, which led to the capture of alleged members of organized armed groups (GAO in Spanish).

 

One of the captures is that of alias Martín, alleged second ringleader of the José Pablo Montalvo structure of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, who, together with alias Monseñor, is linked to the murder of three social leaders of the indigenous communities and black communities, in action occurred in 2018 and 2019 in the municipality of Riosucio.

 

Alias ​​Martín is in the same way accused of the murder of three UNP officials last year in Curvaradó, in the department of Chocó, and also being responsible for the siege in January of this year in the municipality of Bojayá.

 

The capture was made during a joint operation by the Seventh Army Division, the Joint Task Force Titan and the Colombian Navy, with the support of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Carmen del Darién.

 

Meanwhile, in the rural area of ​​Puerto Libertador, in the department of Córdoba, the troops of the Seventh Division, with the support of the Prosecutor's Office, captured alias Perro, urban ringleader of the Rubén Darío Ávila structure of the GAO - Clan del Golfo and allegedly responsible for the murder of two soldiers on March 18 in San José de Uré. The man is linked to 7 other homicides and extortions and drug trafficking in this region of the country.

 

Minister of Defense in the same way highlighted the capture of one of the most wanted criminals by the Police in the department of Tolima. They are alias El Renco, alleged ringleader of the Sixth group Ismael Ruiz of the residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Dagoberto Ramos, as well as a member of his security group.

 

Alias ​​El Renco was captured in an operation of the National Police, with the support of the Colombian Air Force, in the village of Peña Rica de Planadas, in the department of Tolima. "This man, according to investigations, had under his command a structure of about 60 terrorists who intimidate people in southern Tolima and Huila with extortions, threats and forced displacements," said the Minister.

 

He added that “these important captures have a direct impact on the tranquility of the inhabitants where these individuals were committing crimes, for this I congratulate all the military and police units that participated in these operations. Those captured now must face justice for those crimes that have done so much damage to these communities in Chocó, Córdoba, Tolima and Huila. ”
