As El Salvador prepares to host the prestigious Fuerzas Comando 2025 international competition, from August 16 to 30, the Colombian team entrusted itself to the divine blessing. In an emotional act of profound solemnity, the local commandos received the support and prayers of their compatriots before leaving for this elite challenge.
A thanksgiving Mass was held at the Military Cathedral of Bogotá to commend the performance and safety of the team that will represent the Colombian Military Forces. The ceremony was presided over by General Walther Adrián Giraldo Jiménez, commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (CCOES), who was accompanied by his Staff, officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, their families and civilians of the institution.
During the Mass, General Giraldo addressed the team with a message of motivation and pride. “I just want to tell you that you are today at the center of gravity of this great family,” he said highlighting the support of his loved ones. In his speech, he urged them to fight with love, loyalty and firmness and to remember that the flag they carry represents the greatness of the 450 thousand men and women of the Colombian Military Forces.
“I'm sure that if that's the case, that flag that you carry on your right arm, when you feel tired, turn around and look at it, and say: My body is just starting to give everything, and I'm going to be victorious to carry that beautiful trophy,” he said. The ceremony in the same way included a special request, if it is God's will, the eight commandos will take the title of champions.
The Colombian team is made up of four officers and four non-commissioned officers of the Army, Navy and Aerospace Force, who have been undergoing rigorous training since September last year, demonstrating an exceptional physical and mental preparation that has positioned them as the best among their peers.
The group features specialties crucial to success, including assault, expert shooter accuracy, and urban tactics. Its participation in Fuerzas Comando 2025 will not only put its skills to the test, but will in the same way foster camaraderie and the exchange of knowledge among nations, reflecting the commitment and excellence of the Colombian Military Forces worldwide.
