Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy attended the emergency call of a catamaran-type sailboat, with 30 people on board, which was apparently adrift due to a mechanical failure in its steering system, while sailing approximately five miles of the Cartagena sea buoy.
Once the alert about the maritime emergency was received, two Rapid Reaction Units - URR, of the Coast Guard Station of Cartagena, were sent, which set sail in search of the ship, finding it minutes later.
The boat was towed by another ship that sailed in the sector and provided the support for its transfer to a safe port.
It should be noted that, taking into account the adverse sea conditions, the Coast Guard units accompanied the two boats to a port in the city of Cartagena, where the health status of the rescued people was verified and it was determined that they did not require emergency medical assistance.
