Through this illicit activity, they extracted approximately 1650 grams of gold per month, with an estimated cost of 511 million pesos.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, soldiers of the 4th Juan del Corral Cavalry Medium Group of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, intervened two illegal mining production units in the village of La Mina, municipality of Argélia, department of Antioquia.
Materials used for the illicit extraction of mining deposits were found by troops at the site: 120 urea rods, 57 non-electric detonators, a single-phase blower motor (Buffalo), a centrifugal blower turbine, a demolition hammer, a polisher, 2 pneumatic drills, a chainsaw, 2 motors, 2 positioning columns for pneumatic drills, and other elements used in this illegal activity.
During the military operation, seven individuals were arrested in flagrante who were using this machinery to carry out the illegal extraction of minerals.
This result represents a significant blow against the Gener Morales substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, by directly hitting their illicit activities.
It is estimated a loss of more than 930 million pesos, resources that were used to strengthen their armed capacity and attack the Military Forces and the inhabitants.
