At the end of an extraordinary council of security in Tumaco, Nariño, the minister of Defence, Diego Molano, reported yesterday four violent incidents in the rural area of the municipality last Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February, which are in the process of review and investigation by the authorities.

“Saturday, February 20 at 13: 00 hours, two lifeless bodies were found by troops in the municipality of Caunapi, additionally a lifeless body was found in Villa Rica. Last Sunday, February 21, three bodies were found by troops in the municipality of Llorente at 05:15 hours”.

“The same day at 17:00 hours units of the National Army found five lifeless bodies in the Puerto Rico village, which were taken by the community to different places, without the execution of urgent investigative acts by the authorities”, explained Minister Molano.

According to information provided by the community, those responsible for this latest criminal act in Puerto Rico would be members of the GAO Los Contadores, who are in an armed confrontation with the GAO-R Óliver Sinisterra structure. According to the information collected by the authorities, among the dead people there are alias Danielito, Liso, Chachenco, Menor and Laiza.

“At the scene, the National Army found 1,032 firearms, 143 anti-personnel mines, a barrel-type explosive device, 25 barrels of ANFO explosive, a radio frequency activation system explosive device, military accessories and 350 kilos of food,” the minister said.

This year, military forces have captured 54 members of organized armed groups, destroyed 384 improvised explosive devices, found two tons of cocaine and coca base paste, and have confiscated 61 long-and short-range weapons.

“The Military Forces will act decisively against drug trafficking structures that commit crimes in the south of the country. We ask for the support of the community to provide information, with all security guarantees, for the capture and prosecution of the GAO members alias El Gringo, ringleader of the criminal structure Oliver Siniesterra and Alias Mario 40, Ringleader of Los Contadores. For information to capture them we provide a reward of up to 200 million pesos. In addition, we provide a reward up to 100 million pesos for information to find alias Albeiro of the Oliver Sinisterra and up to 100 million pesos for alias Uriel de Los Contadores.

Finally, the minister reported that the Ministry of Defense and the General Command of the military forces, will begin studies for the installation of a military base in the Mataje sector of the municipality of Tumaco, to strengthen road control and border crossings.
