Units of the Colombian Navy, with the support of the sea people, assisted 24 people who were in emergency in the Isla Aguja sector in Santa Marta.
The search and rescue operation began after receiving the call by sea VHF channel to the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance System of Santa Marta by the ship Bukarú, informing the emergency, given that it apparently had machinery failures, due to water ingress.
The search and rescue protocols established by the Colombian Navy, through its Coast Guard components, were immediately activated in order to safeguard human life at sea.
Colombian sailors of the Santa Marta Coast Guard Station arrived at the scene of the emergency carrying out the revision of the passengers to later carry out their evacuation and transport to a safe dock.
The Colombian Navy, through the Coast Guard Units of the Caribbean Naval Force, continues to carry out maritime control and surveillance operations, in coordination with local and regional authorities, in order to safeguard human life at sea. In the same way, the institution invites citizens to enjoy the beaches in the Colombian Caribbean complying with all maritime safety regulations and has the line 146 and the VHF channel 16 to inform any news in activities in maritime spaces in the Colombian Caribbean.
