Intelligence work led to the finding of this narcotic on a secondary road near the capital city of Cauca. The operations carried out by the soldiers on the department's road routes recently led to the finding of a large amount of black powder. Both elements would belong to the Carlos Patiño dissidents.
The military operation carried out by the troops and that had the support of the Attorney General's Office led to the identification of the vehicle on the Pan-American highway near the sector of Rioblanco, a municipality near the capital city of Cauca.
After the work of, the troops identified that the drug had been pressed into packages and stored in the container that supposedly transported the gas. This shipment that would belong to the Carlos Patiño dissidents who commit crimes in the municipalities of Balboa and Argelia would cost more than 2,300 million pesos, which translates into significant damage to the illegal income of this criminal organization. The military deployment that is constant in this part of the department would have motivated that the vehicle was abandoned near the entrance to Popayán, so no arrests were made.
Similarly, and through the checkpoints conducted on the Pan-American highway, it was recently possible to find 160 kg of black powder that were being transported in a vehicle during its passage through the village of Quilcacé de Rosas, in the south of the department.
This element commonly used for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices would belong to the Carlos Patiño residual structure. This territorial control operation resulted in the arrest of the driver, as well as the finding of the explosive substance.
During the year 2024, within the framework of the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, this military unit has dismantled 58 laboratories for the production of cocaine in the department of Cauca, mainly in the municipalities of the Cauca mountains, places from where the transportation of the drug to the department's road routes begins. Through these blows dealt to drug trafficking, the illicit finances of the illegal armed groups in this area of the country are hit.
