The National Army captured 8 members of the criminal group Los Mesas, in eastern Antioquia
This group of men, in El Carmen de Viboral, was responsible for intimidating the inhabitants of the area by demanding payments in exchange for not attacking them; in addition they trafficked narcotics and weapons in order to strengthen the organization.
In a military operation of territorial control, troops of the National Army and the Attorney General of the Nation made effective the search warrant to a house in the municipality of Carmen de Viboral, where the capture of eight people for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime aggravated for extortion, drug trafficking and traffic, carrying or possession of firearms, took place.
The organized criminality group 'Los Mesas' is an outlaw group that conducts criminal operations in the municipality of Bello, north of the Aburrá Valley to increase the income of this group.
This cell of eight men, in El Carmen de Viboral, intimidated the inhabitants of the area by demanding payments in exchange for not attacking them. However, thanks to the timely information of the citizens, it was possible to capture the eight individuals.
Troops found a revolver, six cartridges, 80 grams of cocaine and its derivatives, 2,883 grams of marijuana, 200 marijuana cigarettes and 35 doses of the same substance. In the same way, they found 12 cell phones, a communication radio and a vehicle.
