The Air Force arrived in Cundinamarca to provide support in the fires of great magnitude

A Cundinamarca también llegó la Fuerza Aérea, para atender los incendios de gran magnitud

In a battle against time, a UH-60 helicopter of the Colombian Air Force, equipped with the Bambi Bucket system, is looking from the air to combat the conflagration that has been consuming the forest reserve of the Barro Blanco Village, in Bojacá, Cundinamarca, for a little more than 24 hours.

The flames have grown rapidly with the passing of the hours, due to the high temperatures and strong winds in the area, threatening to consume hectares of an ecosystem damaging the fauna and flora, as well as the rural inhabitants near the area.

The air support was made possible thanks to the inter-institutional coordination of the Maintenance Air Command (CAMAN), the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM), the N°5 Air Combat Command (CACOM-5), the National Personnel Recovery Center and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management. Troops are currently attacking the various spots that were found by units at the top of one of the hills, to make way for the relief agencies that are fighting at the ground to counter the environmental emergency.

The Air Force, working to protect and safeguard the country's natural resources, continues to make its aircraft and crews available to conduct operations that help keep under control the different forest fires that are hitting a large part of the national territory.
