Air interception training strengthens capacity in the struggle against transnational crimes

Entrenamiento de interdicción aérea fortalece capacidad en la lucha contra delitos trasnacionales

Strengthening the resources of the Colombian Aerospace Force in the southeast of the country, the Air Combat Command No. 6, CACOM 6, under the leadership of the Air Defense Squadron, conducted an air interception and ground consolidation training exercise to counter transnational crimes in the border areas of the country.

During the exercise, the personnel simulated the interception of an aircraft classified as a suspicious trace, previously identified by the National Air Defense system, which led to the activation of the established protocols for the reaction of crews, special commandos, Judicial Police, military lawyer and fire personnel, who worked in a coordinated manner as in a real event, in order to neutralize the threat and drive the aircraft to the Air Military Unit under strict control.

In order to continue reinforcing the technical and military operations capacity of the Institution, the strengthening of the procedures and standards in the detection, interception and neutralization of illegal aircraft, the C-208 "Caravan" and A-29 "Super Tucano" aircraft played a key role in this training, underlining the commitment of CACOM 6, in the fight against drug trafficking and the protection of national airspace.
