Colombian Navy, reported the arrest of alias 35, alleged ringleader of the criminal substructure Manuel José Gaitán, of the Organized Armed Group - GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the village of Chochó, department of Sucre.
In effective inter-institutional synergy, a search warrant issued by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 196 was complied, against criminal organizations outlaw. The operation, carried out within the framework of a unified ground operation, had the tactical coordination and direct execution of the military maneuvers. This operation in the same way had the strategic support of the Colombian Aerospace Force and was coordinated with specialized units of the National Police.
Alias 35 was wanted by the judicial authorities, for the crimes of association to commit crimes and trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics. According to preliminary investigations, this individual occupied a high-value role within the criminal structure, apparently, he was the ringleader of the focused criminal component and was the second-in-command within the Manuel José Gaitán substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, an organization responsible for illicit activities, in several municipalities of the Colombian Caribbean.
During the arrest procedure, the authorities found six cell phones and a laptop computer, key elements to conduct investigations that led to dismantling other associated organized crime networks.
This powerful blow represents a direct strategic impact on the command and control resources of this substructure. Their criminal capacity is being weakened and the institutional activity of the State is being strengthened in vulnerable areas in this region of the country.
