With a strategic visit to the area of operations, General Alberto José Mejía Ferrero, commander of the Military Forces, led the military operation, known as Operation 'Anguila', which deploys approximately 4,000 men to find the whereabouts of alias 'Guacho' and its criminal structure in southwestern Colombia.
The senior officer arrived at the house where the leader of the organized armed group Oliver Sinisterra was hiding and verified some secondary positions that this delinquent had: "This operation is one of persistence, a mission in which this bandit, alias 'Guacho', continues being an objective of high value for the Military Forces, and we consider that the troops fulfill an extraordinary mission, a very difficult mission in a really challenging terrain, flooded in a 70 percent, with a really complicated jungle ".
The operational strategy includes land and river closures, using all the capabilities and technology of the Armed Forces with their professionalism, always thinking of the best interests of the Colombian people.
"We are in the Triangle of Telembí, exerting a very important pressure on the main objective and we ask God to enlighten these courageous troops so that we can quickly find this individual. I am absolutely sure of the effort on the ground; the sacrifice I observed in our soldiers is superior and it makes me really proud," said General Mejía.
At present, Operation Anguila continues and is strengthened with more reinforcements in this part of the country. "We cannot confirm, or disprove that alias 'Guacho' has been wounded, only when we have his body or until we capture him alive we can look at the Colombian people in the eyes and tell the truth and nothing but the truth. For now I do not want to speculate, the only thing we have for sure is that we focus on finding him. That is the mission," confirmed the commander of the Military Forces.
