The urgent acts are conducted by the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office and the material found was put into custody of the authority for its respective prosecution.
As part of the military operations being carried out in the department of Antioquia, troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 11 of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army arrested two members of the Edwin Román Velásquez Valle Substructure of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, in clashes reported in the village Arenales of the municipality of Urrao, in the southwestern region of the department of Antioquia.
Those arrested, known as alias Kevin and alias Cimitarra, will have to face charges for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying firearms and ammunition of the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
Alias Kevin would have about two years of criminal experience and it is presumed that he would be the head of hitmen of this structure. He would in the same way be in charge of carrying out homicides in the municipalities of Urrao and Betulia. For his part, alias Cimitarrara, would be the coordinator of the local narcotics trafficking in Urrao.
During the military operation, a firearm, cartridges of different calibers, magazines, booklets alluding to the so-called Gaitanista Army of Colombia, communication equipment and military accessories material were seized.
Through this result, the structure of the GAO, Clan del Golfo, is weakened and its criminal operations, which attack human rights and the provisions of International Humanitarian Law.
The troops reaffirm the commitment of Colombian National Army to the safety, well-being and protection of the life of the communities in the department of Antioquia.
