After joint, coordinated and interagency operation led by troops of the Sixth Brigade of the National Army, with support of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) and the Air Combat Command No 4, in the municipality of La Gaitania, Municipality of Planadas, it was possible to capture alias “Tomato”, alleged ringleader of the GAO-r front 21, wanted for the crimes of aggravated extortion, forced displacement and conspiracy to commit a crime.
His criminal record is related to the handling and manipulation of explosive devices, terrorist operations against military units and kidnappings, displacement of families in the south of Tolima, in addition to conducting extortions in Tolima and Quindío, intimidating the civilian population, especially small merchants.
After the operation, he was taken in a Huey II helicopter of the Colombian Air Force, belonging to the CACOM 4, of the municipality of Planadas to the 'Jaime Rooke' Battalion, where he was put into custody of the Sectional Prosecutor's Office of the city of Ibagué .
