This result is given within the framework of the Ayacucho Operations Plan, which seeks to protect governance, the inhabitants and weaken resources of the threat in order to stabilize the territory.
Troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Antioquia, of the Fourth Brigade, with the support of the component of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Antioquia Technical Investigation Corps, arrested an alleged frontman of the Edwin Román Velázquez Valle substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, who would be one of the alleged invisibles for the management of criminal finances.
After the denunciation received by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), by a citizen about an act of kidnapping, it was possible to carry out investigative and intelligence tasks that lasted for more than 10 months which led to finding the whereabouts of the person in question, given that this individual participated in the kidnapping and subsequent homicide of a relative of the complainant.
The search procedure took place in the early hours of yesterday, in a building in the city of Medellín, where the alleged frontman was caught with the millionaire sum of 765 million pesos, a 9 mm pistol, 18 cartridges, 2 Magazines, 2 cell phones, a laptop and several USB sticks.
Through this arrest, the finances of this illegal organization are severely weakened, since through these economic resources the GAO Clan del Golfo obtains weapons, ammunition, explosives, as well as other elements with which they attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces,.
This person was put into custody of the authority and will have to face charges of aggravated extortion kidnapping, torture and homicide.
