The troops are intensifying operations in this area of the country, with the purpose of striking and weakening the organized armed groups operating in the region.
Soldiers of the Rainforest Battalion N.° 57, attached to the Eleventh Brigade of Colombian National Army, dismantled an illegal hiding place with material of military accessories and ammunition, allegedly belonging to the Manuel Alexander Ariza Substructure of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
The military operation took place in the village of Baldíos Nacionales, in the municipality El Bagre, department of Antioquia, after search efforts by the troops. Some of the items found by troops are 26 cartridges of different calibers, 4 metal magazines and bracelets alluding to the so called Gaitanist Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC).
Similarly, tactical shirts, a black shirt with the FARC logo, sweatshirts, and a first aid kit were found by troops. These elements were put into custody of the authorities for the corresponding judicial procedures.
