This operation in the same way led to the recovery of a minor and the finding of long weapons, explosives and elements of military accessories, elements that would supply the members of this criminal structure that commits crimes in the village of El Plateado.
Troops of Colombian National Army, in an operation on the village Bolivia, rural area of Argelia, in the south of Cauca, neutralized in combats the threat of three members of the residual organized armed group Carlos Patiño. The permanent operation carried out by the troops for the security of the Micay Canyon in the same way led to the finding of rifles, grenades and elements of military accessories, an operation that complements the recent blows dealt to the members of this residual GAO in this area of the south of the department.
According to military intelligence, this armed group was in the area to carry out terrorist operations in the urban area of the municipality of Argelia and surrounding places, putting its inhabitants at constant risk. The troops countered these intentions by engaging combats against those individuals.
In the operation, carried out in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Police, a minor was recovered, who was being used by this illegal group to attack the troops.
The minor was removed of the area to carry out the restoration of her rights by the authorities.
It should be noted that during the humanitarian operation the minor and the elements found were extracted; the helicopter was hit by this illegal group, an action that did not generate any risk to the crew of the operation.
After this powerful blow, 5 rifles, a reconditioned shotgun, 13 grenades of different calibers, 26 magazines, abundant ammunition, elements of military accessories and communications and propaganda alluding to this residual structure were found by troops. All these elements were put into custody of the authorities.
Through this result, the criminal intentions of GAO-r Carlos Patiño in the south of the department of Cauca continue to be decimated. In addition, the criminal and financial operations of this armed group are significantly hit, dismantling their structures through operations with the support of artillery fires and the use of platforms with great impact within the criminal organization.
Colombian National Army continues to carry out operations with the objective of ensuring the integrity and tranquility of the inhabitants in this region of the department.
