Inhabitants of the village of Bajo Calima and the Las Colonias sector, in the rural area of the Special District of Buenaventura, were benefited with a Development Support Activity, carried out by the National Navy, which, with the firm purpose of contributing to the quality of life of the communities in this region of the country, coordinated efforts with public and private institutions, to bring health and well-being to 875 people of these sectors.
This activity, which was led by the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 2, through Navy Infantry Battalion No. 21, had the support of 147 people, including military, health professionals and volunteers, who provided free medical care in physiotherapy, general medicine, dentistry and psychology; as well as, oral rehabilitation, insertion of subdermal implants, among others. The activity was supported by the Alianzas Solidarias, Ángeles por Colombia, Cardioclinic and Colombia Solidaria foundations, who contributed to the well-being and comprehensive development of these Buenaventura villages, especially of pregnant women, minors and older adults, from this region of the country.
In the same way, the beneficiaries enjoyed recreational activities and received humanitarian aid such as food baskets, food supplement, clothing and toys, which filled the youngest of these communities with well-being and joy.
During the year, the Pacific Naval Force, through its units, has benefited more than 60 thousand people with activities aimed at contributing and strengthening the social wellbeing of the Colombian Pacific communities.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to activities that improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Colombian Pacific.
