In the framework of an inter-institutional operation carried out by the Colombian Navy and the Attorney General's Office, two people were located and rescued after being held against their will for more than eight hours by a group of individuals on the road from the village of Zacar铆as to the municipality of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
The operation was initiated after receiving information through the toll-free line 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) about a possible kidnapping of two men who were traveling in their vehicle bound for the municipality of Buenaventura. During the journey, they were intercepted by several individuals who, carrying handguns, intimidated them, forcing them to stop and get out of the car. Subsequently, they were beaten, separated of their belongings and the vehicle in which they were traveling. The victims were taken to an unknown place, where they were held hostage for more than eight hours.
Thanks to the quick and timely reaction of the Buenaventura Military GAULA (ANTI-EXTORTION AND ANTI-KIDNAPPING GROUP) and the Technical Investigation Corps -CTI-, search efforts were initiated and constant pressure was exerted on the identified perimeter area, which led to the rescue of the two people.
The kidnappers are believed to belong to the Organized Gang (GDO) Los Shottas, who reportedly demanded a large sum of money for the release of the victims, money that they use to the gang's expenses.
