With the commissioning of the Buenavista airfield runway, in the department of La Guajira, Colombian National Army consolidates a new strategic asset in a key region for national sovereignty. As a historical fact, an Antonov AN-32 aircraft of the Air Assault Aviation Division landed on this platform for the first time, setting a precedent in the deployment of military operation resources with medium-performance aircraft.
The works of adaptation of the runway were executed by the Military Engineers, within the framework of a coordinated work with the aviator soldiers, who, in synergy, materialized this construction project that strengthens the institutional activity in this area of the north of the country.
This constitutes a milestone for the mobility, maneuvering and support of the troops of the Medium Combined Task Force, facilitating the transportation of personnel, supplies and other logistical requirements for the fulfillment of the constitutional mission, as well as to support the communities that inhabit this region of the Colombian Caribbean.
The differentiated resources of Colombian National Army are constantly being used in constant coordination, with the firm purpose of contributing to the comprehensive development of the territory, safeguarding security and working to increase institutional coverage in areas of special strategic, social, economic and cultural interest for the nation.
