In Cauca, the Army and Navy integrate their resources to save the life of Jaime Mart铆nez, a wounded FARC dissident

En Cauca, Ej茅rcito y Armada integran sus capacidades para salvar la vida de sometido de las disidencias Jaime Mart铆nez

After heavy fighting in the previous days in the Cauca Pacific region, this wounded man, who had been abandoned by his comrades, decided to surrender to the troops.

In a recent military operation in an area near the Yurumangui River, the village of La Primavera, border between the municipalities of L贸pez de Micay, Cauca, and Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, soldiers of Colombian National Army and the Navy have once again demonstrated their commitment to Human Rights and respect for International Humanitarian Law, by saving the life of a member of the Jaime Mart铆nez dissidents group.

A few hours ago, in the midst of the search and control work for the recovery of the territory, a member of this illegal armed group voluntarily surrendered to military units, stating that he had been injured in the fighting of previous days and his comrades of the terrorist group had abandoned him.

Immediately military nurse of the Infantry Battalion No. 56 and the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 24 of the National Navy spared no effort, and gave him first aid, stabilized him and extracted him to a safe area, where he was evacuated to a hospital to receive specialized medical services.
