The group of musicians of the Colombian Navy was in charge of saying goodbye to the small members of the “Sons and Daughters of Peace Choir”.
19 children and young people whose ages 6 and 18 years old, of the choir of Bogotá, sang their notes of peace before leaving for Belgium, where they will meet with the crew of the ARC Gloria Training Ship to position the country brand and bring a message of brotherhood to the world.
In previous acts the Mayor of Bogotá Carlos Fernando Galán and the Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo said goodbye to the children who will be bearers of peace before the world.
This Tuesday, May 28th, the Daughters and Sons of Peace Choir of the Bogotá Philharmonic, accompanied by of the group of musicians of the Colombian Navy, delighted the foreigners and compatriots who were transiting through the El Dorado Airport, with a sample of talents who sang notes of peace. The work was carried out as a preliminary act to the cultural demonstrations that will take place on board the ARC Training Ship“Gloria, which will arrive next Friday, May 31, in Antwerp - Belgium.
In the European country, the small artists, accompanied by the crew of the Floating Ambassador of Colombia in the seas of the world, will be in charge of positioning the country brand, to attract tourism and foreign investment, showing the best of Colombia and the most important thing: to be bearers of the decision that the Nation is making to the construction of peace.
It is not a coincidence that Belgium was chosen to host this emblematic meeting, because it is in this nation that the Council and the European Parliament, as well as other organizations that have supported the peace agreement, are found. In this place, there are in the same way the members of the UN Security Council, who know first-hand the talent of these little children, siblings of peace signatories.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the work of the Bogotá Philharmonic, the Colombian Embassy in Belgium, the Ford Foundation, and the support of the El Dorado International Airport, the Gran Estación Shopping Center, the Agency for Reintegration and Normalization and the Sí Mujer Foundation.
About the Sons and Daughters of Peace Choir
In November 2021, the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra launched this choir, made up of sons and daughters of signatories of the peace reached by the Colombian state and the FARC in 2016.
Thanks to the support of the Ford Foundation and the United Nations Review Mission in Colombia, this choir has been operating for two years and has become a Peace Philharmonic Center, run by the Philharmonic. Today, about 50 daughters and sons of the signatories participate in the choir, which make Bogotá visible to Colombia and the world as a territory of peace.
Since its foundation, the choir has received donations from international cooperation for more than 100 thousand dollars. The main donor has been the Ford Foundation, which works for peace building in Colombia, who has renewed its commitment to support the educational process of these children in 2024. The impetus given to the choir by the United Nations Review Mission in Colombia and the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, who accompanied the launch of the choir two years ago, has in the same way been key.
More than 30 performances in national and international environments have led to reporting the symbolic strength of the choir in media around the world. This, in addition, has resulted in invitations to commemorate peace at the United Nations headquarters in New York and in Brussels, before the European Union.
The choir seeks to transmit messages of hope and reconciliation, without representing any particular political flag, beyond the celebration of peace.
