During the search of the boat, a Dutch citizen and a Turkish citizen were identified.
20 nautical miles of the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the department of Chocó, units of the Colombian Navy, within the framework of maritime control and security operations, troops reported the identification and finding of a foreign sailboat, which was sailing in Colombian Pacific waters, without having the documentation sought for its transit.
Through patrol work, the Colombian Sailors detected with their radars, this Unites States - flagged sailboat-type ship, named Searching For The Edge, which was traveling suspiciously in waters adjacent to the village of El Valle, coastal area of the municipality of Bahía Solano. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR, of the Coast Guard of Bahía Solano, was sent to make the corresponding interception of the boat.
During the search on the ship, it was identified that it was crewed by two foreigners; one of Dutch nationality and another of Turkish nationality, who stated that they had sailed from Panama, for the purpose of testing machines; however, they did not have sailing documentation or authorization to sail through national waters.
The two people and the boat were put into custody of the maritime authorities, to carry out the corresponding investigations and judicial procedures.
