The military operation has potently hit the illegal armed groups in the department.
Troops of the 11th Cacique Nutibara Infantry Battalion of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army fought against alleged members of the Edwin Rom谩n Vel谩squez Valle substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the village La Alacena, municipality of T谩mesis, southwestern Antioquia department.
As a result of the work of the troops, the death of alias La Bizca occurred within the framework of military operations, as well as the arrest of alias Carlos, alias Jonathan, alias Correcaminos and alias Tatuaje, the latter accused of being the ringleader of that structure in the municipality of Urrao, and presumed responsible for homicides and the collection of money from extortions of money against different productive groups and inhabitants in this region of southwestern Antioquia.
It was in the same way possible to recover a minor. He had been forcibly recruited and used to carry out criminal activities, which constitutes a crime under the Colombian Penal Code and a violation of international humanitarian law.
It is important to mention that, during the operation, the arrested individuals were injured and were immediately assisted by the combat nurse, who provided them with first aid in strict respect of Human rights. Later, they were evacuated by a helicopter of Colombian National Army Aviation to the city of Medell铆n, where they were assisted.
Those arrested were being wanted by the authorities for the crimes of association to commit crimes, sexual intercourse with a child under 14, and trafficking, manufacturing or illegal carrying of firearms, ammunition and explosives.
During the operation, a 5.56 caliber R15 rifle, two pistols, a revolver, a shotgun, magazines and abundant ammunition were found by troops.
Through this result it was possible the total dismantling of this group of the Edwin Rom谩n Vel谩squez Valle of the GAO Clan del Golfo substructure, responsible for multiple criminal activities against the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
